🌍 Introducing Jens Floré, our new Site Manager for Cork BASF Ireland! 🌍With a strong background in chemical engineering and extensive experience in the petrochemicals industry, Jens brings valuable knowledge and expertise to his role.His journey with BASF started in Antwerp, Belgium, where he held various operational positions on the Verbund site, excelling as a successful manager in optimizing furnace performance, and reliability and later became the production manager for the entire Steamcracker. In his most recent role as plant manager for a cluster of four plants, his focus was on organizational development, employee growth, and operational excellence.Jens is excited about his new role as Site Manager at Cork, BASF Ireland, viewing it as a significant opportunity for both personal development and making a meaningful contribution to the site's progress. His aim is to create a collaborative environment where colleagues work together as one team, leveraging their diverse experiences to shape a successful future for the site.While still getting familiar with everything that is being done on the site, Jens is excited to see the Culture of Care initiative, which focuses on safety, leadership, and communication topics. Our Cork production site recently celebrated their 13th Annual BASF Ireland Summer School for #chemistry teachers, held at the University College Cork (UCC). This Summer School, organized in collaboration with UCC, the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST), and the Irish Science Teachers' Association, continues to make a significant impact in the field of chemistry education.Bringing together chemistry teachers from across Ireland, the BASF Summer School aims to equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to teach the subject and ensures that teachers gain hands-on experience and develop innovative teaching techniques. What started as a one-day event has now evolved into a two-day program due to overwhelming demand and the desire to provide a comprehensive learning experience.By supporting the professional development of chemistry teachers, the Summer School plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of #education in Ireland. Consulting (HGI) have formed a strategic partnership to enhance secondary copper recovery through novel mining technologies. 🌱🔬With the global demand for copper set to exceed supply due to the green electric revolution, bridging the deficit becomes a major challenge. As ores become more complex and grades decline, building new mines becomes difficult, costly, and time-consuming.To address this challenge, BASF and HGI are combining their expertise in chemical, mineral processing, and geophysical technologies. Heap leach processes, which offer low-cost extraction techniques, often suffer from inefficiencies, leaving large quantities of valuable copper trapped and unrecovered.By leveraging our innovative LixTRA™ leaching aid and HGI's geophysical deep well injection technologies, a secondary recovery solution is created. This solution unlocks trapped copper and significantly increases copper extraction rates.
